This is the first revision under the <\/span><b>Code on Wages, 2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which replaces the earlier framework under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One important point for employers in Gurugram: <\/span><b>Haryana does not use different wage zones.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The same minimum wage rates apply across Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Panipat, and other districts, including rural areas. There is no separate Gurugram premium or NCR-specific addition in the Haryana minimum wage notification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, if you\u2019re calculating minimum wages for employees in Gurugram, you don\u2019t need to look for a separate Gurugram rate. Hourly rate calculated on 8-hour workday basis from daily rate.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><b>How daily and hourly rates are calculated:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monthly wage \u00f7 26 = daily rate (Haryana uses 26 working days as the standard divisor for daily wage calculation). Daily rate \u00f7 8 = hourly rate. For LOP deductions, Haryana law uses 30 days as the divisor so daily rate for deduction purposes = monthly wage \u00f7 30.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Four Things Gurugram Employers Get Wrong<\/b><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><b> Splitting the wage into basic + allowances to show &#8216;compliance&#8217;<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the most common workaround pay \u20b98,000 as basic, \u20b97,300 as allowances, and claim total wages meet the minimum. <\/span><b>Haryana law doesn&#8217;t allow this.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Code on Wages 2019 notification explicitly states wages must be paid as a whole they cannot be split into allowances to reduce statutory liabilities. The full notified amount is the floor, paid as a single figure.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><b> Using the same rate for everyone regardless of skill level<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A common shortcut in smaller establishments: pay everyone the unskilled rate and claim compliance. If you have a person doing electrical work (Skilled \u20b918,501) paid at the unskilled rate of \u20b915,221, you&#8217;re underpaying by \u20b93,280\/month per person. That compounds quickly. The skill categorisation is determined by the work actually done, not the designation on the payslip.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><b> Keeping trainees below the unskilled floor<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trainees are paid at 75% of their applicable category but never below the unskilled minimum of \u20b915,221. A trainee being prepared for a Skilled role would theoretically get 75% of \u20b918,501 = \u20b913,875. But since that&#8217;s below the unskilled floor, the employer must pay \u20b915,221. And the training period cannot exceed 12 months after that, full category wage applies automatically.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><b> Using outdated rates after the July revision<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Haryana revises minimum wages <\/span><b>twice a year January and July<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> based on the All-India Consumer Price Index. The April 2026 rates in this article are current. The next revision is due July 2026. Many Gurugram employers update payroll once a year and miss the mid-year July cycle. Set a reminder before 1 July every year the new rates apply from that date.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Gurugram vs Delhi vs Noida NCR Minimum Wage Comparison<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gurugram and Delhi are 30 kilometres apart. Their minimum wages are not the same Delhi&#8217;s are significantly higher. A Gurugram company paying Haryana rates is legally compliant in Haryana. But if the same employee works from a Delhi office even occasionally Delhi minimum wage applies for those days.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h2><b>Contract Labour Principal Employer Is Also Liable<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your Gurugram office or factory uses housekeeping, security, or other contract staff through an agency, the minimum wage obligation doesn&#8217;t transfer to the agency alone. Documenting it is the other. Haryana employers must maintain:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Register of wages <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">employee name, category, wage rate, days worked, gross wages, deductions, net paid, signature or acknowledgement<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Register of overtime <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OT hours per employee, rate applied, amount paid<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Register of fines <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if any fines are deducted from wages, they must be logged here<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Wage slips <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">issued to every employee before or on the wage payment date.
